Description

A phosphor terminal on your wrist, with a little courier in the corner who reacts to your day. He is not decoration. He stands with one arm up when the day is ordinary, strides once you have moved, hunches over when your body battery drops under a quarter, and throws both arms in the air the moment your step goal falls. Four states you read from a shape, which is faster than reading a number. Behind him the whole dial is a cathode ray tube: one phosphor colour, three shades of it, scanlines across the glass and a block cursor parked after the minutes. The time and the readouts are set in a real pixel typeface with anti-aliasing switched off, so the pixels are pixels rather than a font pretending. SIX PHOSPHORS Cyan, amber, green, white, magenta and ice blue. The colour is not just the digits: it carries the figure, the scanlines, the rules, the icons and the always on display, so the tube is recoloured rather than tinted. Every shade is picked from Garmin's 64 colour palette, so it stays clean on memory in pixel screens instead of dithering. Change it in Garmin Connect and it updates on the wrist straight away. ON THE FACE • Pixel seven segment time with a terminal cursor • A figure that changes with body battery, movement and your step goal • Heart rate, steps, calories and battery down the left • Weekday, date and outside temperature across the top • Step goal as a fourteen segment level meter • CRT scanlines, switchable ALWAYS ON The always on display is designed separately rather than dimmed. The time keeps the same size and the same place, the figure stays as his own outline, the scanlines switch off, and on AMOLED the whole block shifts a pixel every minute to look after the screen. DEVICES Supported on 115 devices, including fenix, Forerunner, Venu, Instinct, epix, vivoactive, Descent, MARQ, tactix, quatix, Enduro and Approach. On the one bit screens of the Instinct family the face repaints itself in white, where the hierarchy comes from size instead of colour. This is the full version. One payment, no time limit, no banner. Want it on your wrist first? What is new

New in this update (1.1) • Choose what shows in the readout above the date and all four cells, from the Connect IQ app or on the watch from the Watch Face menu. • Customise on the watch: on newer watches (fenix 8, Forerunner 170 and later) pick Customise under this face in the watch face list to pick your phosphor colour, switch scanlines and put any data from your watch in each position. • New data options: battery in days, a second time zone and UV index. • Switch off the Type2Fun wordmark in settings. • Fixed: the figure now slumps when your Body Battery drops low, as it was meant to. • Night mode: the face dims to red when your watch switches to night colours. • Wheelchair mode shows pushes instead of steps. • Rate this face from the face's menu on the watch. • Changes made on the watch apply straight away, and temperature shows reliably on newer firmware. • A lighter always-on screen on AMOLED watches: the figure is drawn as an outline and the time stays in place.
