Description

A small steel top spins on a pale table, its shadow soft beneath it. It spins too fast to see it turn - all you see is the wobble. Keep watching. Will it fall? Totem is an animated digital watch face for anyone who has ever woken up and wondered, for a second, whether they were really awake. • It's alive. The top rocks gently about its point as it spins, and over every minute the wobble grows, wider and wider, until it looks about to topple... and then the minute turns, and it is steady again. It never falls. Or does it? • Drawn after the film's final shot: a dark steel top with a tall spike, a thin disc with a bright silver rim and a short rounded point, on a quiet, out-of-focus table. • A large, clean clock in 12 or 24 hours as your watch is set, with the date spaced wide beneath it, like a title card. Everything you need at a glance: • The time, and the day and date • Today's steps, the calories you have burned and your battery level • A step goal ring around the edge, filling up as you walk Make it yours: in the watch face's settings in the Garmin Connect app, switch the step goal ring off - or back on. On AMOLED watches - fēnix 8, fēnix 8 Pro, fēnix 9, fēnix E, epix Pro, epix (Gen 2), Forerunner 965, 970, 570, 265, 165, 170 and 70, Venu 2, 3 and 4, vívoactive 5 and 6, MARQ (Gen 2), Descent Mk3 and G2, D2 Mach and Air X10, Approach S70 and S50, and Instinct 3 AMOLED - the top wobbles while your watch is awake and stands still when it sleeps; in always-on mode the table goes dark and only the clock stays lit, dimmed and gently shifting position to protect your screen. On memory-in-pixel watches - fēnix 5, 6 and 7, Enduro, Forerunner 245, 255, 645, 745, 935, 945 and 955, vívoactive 3 and 4, MARQ, Descent Mk1 and Mk2, D2 Charlie and Delta, Approach S62 and Venu Sq - the top stands still on a light grey dial, drawn in greys. Made for fans of Inception, Christopher Nolan's dream heist, with Leonardo DiCaprio as Dom Cobb, the extractor who steals secrets from inside people's dreams. For everyone who followed Cobb, Arthur, Ariadne, Eames and Saito down through a dream within a dream to plant one idea in Robert Fischer's mind; who watched Paris fold over itself and climbed the Penrose stairs; who felt the kick, heard Non, je ne regrette rien slow to Hans Zimmer's horns, and feared being lost in limbo with Mal. A totem is a small object only you know the weight and feel of, so you can always tell a dream from reality. Cobb's was a spinning top: if it keeps spinning, you are dreaming; if it falls, you are awake. You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling. Unofficial fan art.
