Description

The climber on this watchface actually climbs. He sets his weight over a foot, floats a hand to the next hold, drives through the hips, mantles the lip and stands on top of the boulder. Every scene is a running sequence, not a picture. Elbows and knees bend to reach, so limbs never stretch, and each loop closes on itself: the last frame is the first, so he never jumps between poses. Fourteen scenes. Highball is the default. THE SCENES Full sequences - Highball - a small figure a long way up a big block. Sit start on the crash pad, commit, eleven moves up, mantle the lip, stand on top. The spotter stacks a second pad on the first; the climber down-climbs the top half, drops onto the stack in a puff of chalk, and the spotter drags pad and rider back to the base. - Read the Problem - the same attempt at normal boulder height. The spotter drags the pad in under the fall line and the drop is dead vertical. - Crux Pull - a roof sequence. Hang, pull, feet to the lip, top out, stand, then reverse the mantle and down-climb back to the dead hang, never leaving the wall. - Flow Climb - a full lap of a tall route: weight-shift, reach, pull through, alternating hands to the top, then a jump down, a walk back under the wall and a pull back on. - Dyno - crouch, launch, feet cut, an airborne moment with speed lines, and the latch on a high jug. Chalk on release and catch. - Top-Out Flow - a full lap. Stand on the crash pad, spotter alongside, pull on, hang the lip, press over the hands, high-step, rock over, stand tall, then down-climb and drop back onto the pad. - Boulder Route - he follows a line of holds up a tall crag. - Retro Top-Out - he tops out over a silhouetted overhang and stands. - Retro Two-Hand - two-hand campus pulls under the same overhang. - Sieg (Victory) - V-arms on the summit, sparks and confetti. Sky scenes - Retro Sunset - sunset colour bands, a black overhang, a climber hanging beneath, pine treeline. - Sunset Top-Out - sunset bands behind a craggy boulder, a dyno running across the face. - Time-of-Day Sky - the same boulder under a sky that tracks the real clock: dawn, day, dusk, stars. - Silhouette Poster - the minimal version. Bands, overhang, nothing else. SKY AND LIGHT Sky theme applies to every scene at once: Scene default, Sunset, Night, or Follow time of day. Switch to night sky at night is on by default - from 20:00 to 06:00 every scene moves to a starry sky with a moon, and hands it back in the morning. Climber colour is picked once; the scene decides the rest. Match the scene draws a black silhouette where he hangs in front of the lit sky, and a light figure on the black rock or under a sky gone dark. Or set Always white. DATA TILES Up to seven: three under the date, two pairs beside the clock and date. Each picks from seventeen metrics - heart rate, steps, battery, body battery, stress, calories, floors climbed, notifications - and, with our Boulder Tracker app, today's boulders, sends, hardest grade and climb time, plus seven-day boulders, sessions and climb time, live off the watch. Seven tile styles: Icons + value, Labels on arc, Titles under values, Fields, Inline text labels, Chips, and Meters on the bezel arc. ON THE WRIST The always-on display draws a clean time and date. Animate the climber can be turned off - the face repaints once a minute instead of ten times a second. A watchface has no menus, so the fifteenth entry in the scene list is not a scene but a QR code to the guide. Works on 38 round AMOLED Garmin watches: Venu 2/3/4, Forerunner 165/265/570/965/970, fenix 8, fenix E, epix Gen 2/Pro, Vivoactive 5/6, Instinct 3/Crossover AMOLED, Descent Mk3/G2, D2, MARQ 2, Approach S50/S70. Privacy: the face sends an anonymous weekly usage report - how many watches run it, on which version, scene and style. No personal data, no stable identifier: https://garmin-boulder-app.web.app/privacy

What is new

First public release. Boulder Top-Out is a bouldering watchface for round AMOLED Garmin watches, and the climber on it actually climbs. Fourteen scenes, each a continuous animated sequence rather than a picture: a sit start on the crash pad with a spotter working the pads underneath, eleven moves up a highball, a mantle over the lip, an explosive dyno to a high jug, a roof sequence down-climbed back to the dead hang. Every loop closes on itself, so the climber never jumps between poses. One sky theme covers every scene - scene default, sunset, night, or follow the real time of day - and the face moves itself to a night sky between 20:00 and 06:00, then hands the sky back in the morning. The climber's colour follows the scene automatically. Up to seven data tiles in seven styles, from seventeen metrics including heart rate, steps, battery, body battery, stress and floors, plus live climbing stats from the Boulder Tracker app. Always-on display, and an animation switch for anyone who wants the battery back.
