Description
Speed, distance, downwind heading and live race position on your wrist, for kitesurf, wing and sailing.
WindMaps brings your kitesurf, wing foil, windsurf and other wind and paddle sessions to your watch.
On the watch:
- Speed in km/h, distance and session time, easy to read on the water.
- Downwind: arrow and distance to the finish, and where the rest of your group is.
- Racing: your live position, distance to the next mark and a start warning.
- Jumps: height and airtime, on watches with compatible sensors.
- Pause, resume, finish or discard the session with the watch buttons.
- Records the session even without your phone nearby. It reaches the app when the watch meets the phone again.
With the phone, the watch also shows the points of attention mapped in WindMaps (reefs, rocks, fish traps) as you get close. This is information about local conditions, like wind and tide: it does not replace your own attention or local knowledge, and it does not guarantee that every obstacle is on the map.
Requirements:
- WindMaps app on your phone (Android or iPhone), signed in with the same account.
- Garmin Connect app installed and the watch paired with the phone.
- Recording on the watch is free. Mirroring the phone session (downwind, racing, points of attention) and bringing watch sessions into the app may require a Rider subscription.
What is new
Support for more watches, including Forerunner 255, 255S and 255 Music
• Fixed: the app closed on launch on some models
• Starting from the watch records the session on the watch, even without the phone nearby
• More reliable sync: resends only the missing parts and, when the phone has no internet, retries at growing intervals
• The home screen shows sync progress (e.g. "syncing 45%") and tells you when the session is waiting for internet on the phone, with GPS status right below
• Jumps are kept if the watch restarts mid-session
• On-screen confirmation when you finish or discard a session
