Description

Just Halo is a digital watch face built around a halo of curved data: six fields printed along the outer ring, following the bezel, and the time split down the middle. THE TIME Hours sit left of the vertical axis, minutes right, with a small colon on the axis itself. Seconds have a fixed position beside the minutes, so they never shift as the digits change width, and AM/PM sits left of the hours on the same baseline. Two horizontal lines bracket it. No watch hands. LAYOUT Six fields on the outer ring, one per 60 degree segment — at 10, 12 and 2 o'clock above, 4, 6 and 8 below — with thin separators between them. Set the one at 10 o'clock to a long value, such as MGRS at 10 m, and the three top segments merge into one spanning half the dial, separators removed, so a full reference fits full size. Inside, two rows of two fields, above and below the time, split by a vertical bar and mirrored about the centre, plus one under the top row and another under the clock. Twelve configurable slots in all, and an icon slot at the top and bottom of the dial: current weather, or the moon. DATE AND MOON One field option is a date block: weekday over month, with the day number in a filled rounded square beside them, in the hours colour. The moon option shows the real lunar disc with the phase over it — a curved terminator, not a crescent cut out of a circle. The shadow is a shade lighter than the background, so the covered part stays faintly visible, and below the equator it mirrors. DATA Seventy-nine options per field: steps, floors, distance, calories, active minutes, altitude, heart rate, body battery, stress, respiration, SpO2, VO2 max, recovery time, sleep score, training status, weekly run and bike distance, battery, notifications, week number, second time zone, sunrise, sunset, moon, location, coordinates and MGRS. Weather, from the watch or from OpenWeatherMap: condition, temperature, feels like, humidity, dew point, pressure, wind, cloud cover, visibility, precipitation, UV index, air quality, today's min and max. Sleep score and training status come from Garmin complications, needing Connect IQ 6.0.2. TOUCH On a touchscreen, pressing a field opens the Garmin app behind it — steps opens the step count, heart rate the heart rate app, and so on for about thirty. OPENWEATHERMAP Optional — the watch's own weather needs no setup, but only reports current conditions. For OpenWeatherMap you need your own API key. Create an account at openweathermap.org and subscribe to One Call API 3.0: it asks for a card, but the first 1000 calls a day are free, and you can cap the daily limit at 1000 so you are never billed. Then generate a key and paste it into the settings. The face makes up to four calls per refresh — at the default fifteen minutes, under 400 a day. A new key can take two hours to start working, so if fields show dashes at first, give it time. COLOURS Twenty themes, plus Custom, where every element gets its own colour: background, gradient top and bottom, foreground, labels, digital time and lines. Colours are six character hex codes, so you can match any shade — the screenshots include a chart with the code by each swatch. A gradient background is available on AMOLED, and the bezel carries a fine machined texture of concentric rings. OTHER SETTINGS Settings are numbered one to fourteen, in the order they appear on screen. - weather icons as images or font glyphs - wind direction arrow on the bezel, colour coded by Beaufort - auto-colour values, so a low battery stands out - always on display: time only, or the full layout - day and month names forced to English - pressure in mmHg, mbar or inHg; wind in m/s, km/h, mph, knots - second time zone, half hour offsets included NOTES Position comes from the watch GPS, or the last known fix when GPS is off — location, coordinates, MGRS, sunrise, sunset and moon times use it. If a field shows dashes there is no data yet: weather needs a phone sync, position a GPS fix.
