Description

Your Garmin becomes a speed logger on the water. SpeedSurf shows your speed on your wrist while you ride: Max 2 sec, Max 10 sec, Avg LAT 10 sec and Alpha 500, plus 250 m, 500 m and the nautical mile. Windsurfing, windfoiling, wingfoiling, kitesurfing, kitefoiling, pump foiling or parawing. When you save, the session goes to Garmin Connect like any activity. Make an API key on speedsurf.app under Settings and then Devices, paste it into the SpeedSurf settings in Garmin Connect, and the watch sends the track straight to speedsurf.app by itself, so your ride is on the site before you are off the beach. Leave the key empty and nothing leaves the watch. Knots or km/h, your choice. Free, no account needed on the watch.

What is new

On the Instinct 2, 2S, 2X, Crossover and Descent G1 the app no longer stops in the middle of a ride. It writes your track to the watch in pieces while you ride, and on these watches one such write could ask for more memory than was left, after which the app closed. The pieces are smaller now and the app keeps less in memory, so a three-hour ride now records through to the end. The watch now buzzes once when recording starts, resumes or stops, so you feel that it took. With Tones on in the settings you hear it too. LAST 10S on the main page now holds your last 10 seconds on the screen when you slow down, until your next one. Your heart rate can be on the screen. Turn on Heart rate in the settings, on the watch or in Garmin Connect. On the Instinct 3 and Instinct E it sits in the round window at the top right, with a small heart before it; on every other watch under the clock on the main and stats pages. It is off unless you turn it on, and your activity records it either way. On the Instinct 2, 2S, 2X, Crossover and Descent G1 the setting is not in the watch's menu, and turning it on in Garmin Connect does nothing: these watches have too little memory left for it.
