Description

Tubik for Garmin is a companion app. On its own it plays nothing. It needs two things you must already have: 1. Tubik, the offline music player, on your phone, with your own music already imported into it. 2. A relay server — the small public-HTTPS hop the watch and the phone meet on. The project runs one and the app is pre-filled with its address, so for most people this is not a separate step. What it does with them: copies tracks from the phone's Tubik library onto the watch over the watch's own Wi-Fi, then plays them offline — no phone on you, no streaming subscription, no account. How it works: the watch cannot reach the phone directly, so the phone opens an outbound tunnel to the relay and the watch talks to the same relay. They find each other by a nine-character device token that Tubik shows on the phone and you type on the watch. The relay is a pipe: it forwards bytes between the two and stores nothing. Setup, once: • Tubik on the phone → More → Watch sync → copy the device token • Watch → Music → Providers → Tubik → Tubik setup → Device token • Pick tracks on the phone, sync, listen Requirements: a Garmin watch with music storage, Wi-Fi the WATCH is connected to (not the phone), and Tubik open on the phone while the sync runs. Music comes from your own files in Tubik. This app does not search, stream or sell music, and there is no catalogue in it. Reviewer note: without a paired Tubik phone the app can only show its setup screens — that is the whole app in that state, not a failure. Write to [email protected] and we will arrange a live session with a phone on the relay. What leaves your devices Only while you are on the sync screen in Tubik on the phone, and only for as long as it is open: • the names of the folders and tracks you chose, so the watch can list them • the audio of those tracks, as they download to the watch Both travel through the relay server between your phone and your watch, over HTTPS. The relay is a pipe: it forwards the bytes and keeps no copy of your music, no library listing, no play history and no account for you. What identifies you: the nine-character device token, and nothing else. There is no sign-up, no email, no name. The token is the routing key on the relay — keep it to yourself, because anyone holding it can pull that phone's library while Tubik is open on it. What the watch app stores on the watch: your relay address, your token, your sync selection, and the downloaded audio in the system's own encrypted media cache. "Clear downloads" removes the audio; uninstalling removes the rest. No analytics, no advertising, no location, no health or activity data. The watch app requests exactly two permissions — Communications (to reach the relay) and PersistedContent (to hold the downloaded audio in the system media cache).
