Bone-white hands sweep over a dark plate: a short hour hand with a spade, a long minute hand with a bat for a counterweight. XII, III and IX are set in blackletter, the other hours are slim lancet markers, and at six a half-round window shows the night sky with the moon in its real phase, from a sliver to full and back. Under XII the date, in your watch's own language, and battery and alerts; above the window one reading, heart rate to start with. Five plates: bone on black, blood, ember, amethyst and silver. Halloween made it, and it is meant to be worn long after. The numerals and the date are Grenze Gotisch, a blackletter. On memory-in-pixel screens every plate is drawn for 64 colours; on AMOLED the hands are anti-aliased. The always-on mode keeps the hands, three ticks and the moon's lit edge.
