Description

LNSMorse plays text as Morse code on your watch - by screen flash, LED flashlight, sound and vibration, together and in step. PLAY A MESSAGE Pick a message from the list and press START. The screen fills with a color for each dot and dash, the LED flashes on watches that have one, the speaker beeps and the watch vibrates; each channel can be switched off. Loop a message until stopped - for example SOS - as a setting for all messages or chosen per message. 26 READY-MADE MESSAGES in English, French, Spanish, German and Italian: SOS, help, injured, danger, I am lost, need water, short replies (yes, no, wait, come here, on my way, call me), everyday phrases, amateur-radio classics (CQ, 73, 88) and practice material (PARIS, alphabet, numbers, a pangram, punctuation). YOUR OWN MESSAGES Up to 50 messages of 200 characters. Add, edit, rename and delete them on the watch, or type up to 20 in the app settings on your phone (Garmin Connect / Connect IQ app). SEND, TRANSCRIBE AND PRACTICE BY TAP - Send by tap: key Morse and the watch transmits it as clean, evenly timed dots and dashes on the channels you chose, for someone else to read. - Transcribe: hear or see Morse somewhere else and key along; the watch turns it into text you can save as a message. - Practice: the watch plays random letters, numbers or groups; you key them back and it keeps score. Choose how you key: touch left/right (left half dot, right half dash), touch tap/hold, the UP/DOWN buttons, or a straight key (hold START as long as the element). Dot and dash can be swapped. Letter and word breaks come from your pauses, and the watch adapts to your pace. TOUCH LIMITATIONS - PLEASE READ Connect IQ tells an app about a tap only when the finger is lifted, never the moment it touches the screen, so the watch cannot measure how long you press the screen. With touch left/right, the dot or dash is chosen by WHERE you tap, not by how long. With touch tap/hold, a dash registers when the watch decides the touch is a hold (after its own fixed delay), so dashes cannot be faster than that. Very fast tapping can be limited by how quickly the watch reports taps. Only the buttons give real press timing, which is why the straight key uses START. Watches without a touch screen use the buttons. Send, Transcribe and Practice are not available on the Instinct 2 / 2S / 2X / Crossover and Descent G1: their memory is too small. SETTINGS Dot length 50 to 400 ms (24 to 3 words per minute), dash length and gaps, tone pitch, vibration strength, dot and dash colors, screen and LED brightness, LED color, light source (screen, LED or both), loop, sound and vibration on or off, the language of the default messages, the tap input, and what practice plays. Every setting is on the watch and in the phone settings. CHARACTERS A-Z, 0-9, 20 punctuation marks, and accented letters (international Morse extensions for E acute, A grave, C cedilla, N tilde, umlauts; other accents are sent as their base letter). NOTES - The app settings page in Garmin Connect is available for the store version. - Sound, vibration and LED depend on the watch and on its own settings: if the watch's tones are off, the app says so. - No permissions, no data collected.

What is new

In 0.1.5: - Position on each phone Message slot: 1 puts that message first on the watch, 2 second, and so on. Slots left at 0 follow in slot order. You can reorder phone messages without retyping them. - Digit-only texts: a text like 73 is read as text instead of possibly being skipped. in 0.1.4: - Messages from your phone now save. In the app settings (Garmin Connect / Connect IQ app) you get 16 "Message" slots, each with a name, a text of up to 200 characters, and a Loop choice. A slot left without text is ignored. These slots replace the list from 0.1.2, which Garmin Connect could not save. - Messages that 0.1.2 had already put on the watch are kept. If the app's settings still do not save after updating, uninstall and reinstall the app on the watch once. - Your messages come first. Move up / Move down on the watch. Message 1–16 order on the phone sets their order on the watch; new messages go to the top.
