Description

Spinroom turns the watts on a gym or hotel bike into the speed and distance you would ride on a real road. Type the number the bike's display shows, nudge it up or down as you ride, and a cycling physics model (Martin et al., the one used by power-based speed calculators) works out how fast you would go on a flat road with your weight, your bike type and the air density at your gym. No more 122 km/h on a spin bike: 200 W on a road bike on the hoods is about 32 km/h, just like outside. No watts on the display? Calibrate once: ride two four-minute steps at known power, and Spinroom fits a personal line from heart rate to watts. Every ride you do on watts keeps teaching it, so riding on heart rate alone gets better over time. Every ride is saved as indoor cycling in Garmin Connect with distance, speed and power as normal fields. WHAT IT DOES - Virtual speed and distance from power, solved from aerodynamic drag, rolling resistance and the bike's momentum - Five bike types (road bike drops, hoods or upright, hybrid, mountain bike) with their own drag and rolling resistance - Body weight from your Garmin profile, bike weight and gym elevation for air density - Watts from the bike display: tap the top or bottom half of the screen to step up or down, or type an exact number - Watts from a power meter: a bike or power meter paired with your watch (ANT+ or Bluetooth) is read automatically, with cadence - Watts from heart rate: an 8-minute calibration, a line that learns from your rides, or an estimate from max and resting heart rate - Interval workouts by FTP: 4 × 4 min, 8 × 1 min, 30/30, 2 × 20 min and a pyramid, with a buzz and a new lap at each change - Saves to Garmin Connect as indoor cycling with distance, speed, power, heart rate and laps - A summary after each ride: time, average speed, average and max power, heart rate, work - A watts-to-speed table for your setup, your last rides, totals and a weekly distance goal ring - A glance with your last ride, how long ago it was and your 7-day distance against your goal WHAT IT NEEDS - A bike that shows or broadcasts watts, or a heart rate from the watch or a paired strap - The speed is a model of a flat road without wind: it is comparable with outdoor rides, not a measurement of the gym bike itself
