Description

Sugar Sense shows your CGM glucose on your Garmin watch: current blood sugar value, trend arrow and a trend graph, straight from FreeStyle Libre, Dexcom or Nightscout, with no phone in your hand. It is a Connect IQ glucose widget for people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes on a continuous glucose monitor, runners and cyclists included. Free to install. Live glucose on the watch needs Sugar Sense Premium from the phone app (new accounts get a 7-day free trial). WORKS WITH YOUR CGM - FreeStyle Libre 2, Libre 2 Plus, Libre 3 and Libre 3 Plus via LibreLinkUp sharing - Dexcom G6, G7 and ONE+ via Dexcom Share (any Dexcom app with the Share feature turned on) - Nightscout sites, so any CGM that uploads to Nightscout works WHAT YOU GET - Glance: glucose value, trend arrow, reading age, a mini trend line and the change since the last reading where it fits - Full view: large zone colored reading, trend arrow, age, the change where it fits, unit and a trend graph over a window you pick, 1 to 24 hours, with your high and low guide lines - Settings in the Garmin Connect app: graph window, show change, show reading age. The window is in the watch menu too. - Background refresh every 5 minutes - Glucose complication for Connect IQ watch faces that support complications (not Garmin's built-in faces). It mirrors the widget and can lag when the watch stops syncing. - mg/dL or mmol/L, following your Sugar Sense account settings - Zone colors: green in range, amber warning, red alert - Values older than 15 minutes grey out, so stale data never looks live - Runs on more than 140 Garmin devices: Forerunner 55, 165, 255, 265, 570, 955, 965 and 970, Fenix 6, 7, 8, 9 and E, Epix 2, Enduro 3, Venu 2, 3, 4, X1 and Sq 2, Vivoactive 4, 5 and 6, Instinct 2, 3 and E, MARQ 2 and Edge bike computers (540, 840, 1040, 1050, Explore 2) SETUP IN ABOUT A MINUTE Open the app on the watch and a short code appears. Enter it in the Sugar Sense phone app (Settings, Integrations, Garmin Watch), or sign in at https://app.sugarsense.io/garmin. You never type credentials on the watch. Setup guide: https://sugarsense.io/garmin-watch-glucose-setup QUICK ANSWERS - Does it alert on the watch? No, the watch is a display. Alerts stay on your phone. - Does it need my phone nearby? Yes, readings arrive through Garmin Connect, within Bluetooth range. - How fresh is the reading? Every 5 minutes, a few minutes behind your CGM app. - Following family members? Their glucose shows with their name; with several, you pick who shows in the watch menu. GOOD TO KNOW Requires a free Sugar Sense account (iOS or Android) with a connected glucose source, or a Care Circle follow. Sugar Sense on your phone is a complete diabetes companion: glucose alerts, LogBook, time in range and estimated A1C, insights, food logging and a Care Circle for family. What is new

Battery: the background refresh now adapts. A new Refresh setting in Garmin Connect fetches every reading (5 min) or every other reading (10 min, half the wake-ups). While your watch is in Do Not Disturb, which most Garmin watches turn on during your sleep hours, the widget fetches every other reading by itself (switch Slower in Do Not Disturb off to keep the day cadence). When there is nothing to fetch (sensor off, source not connected) it looks only every 15 minutes, and with no phone connected it does not try at all. The open widget still refreshes every 5 minutes, and alerts stay on your phone. Steadier refresh on watches and bike computers with a small background memory (Fenix 5 and 6, Edge, MARQ, Instinct 2, E and 3 Solar, Venu Sq, Forerunner 245, 55, 645 and 935): the widget now signs in with a lighter key from the Sugar Sense server and no longer renews a Google token in the background, which could run out of memory on some accounts. The switch happens by itself after the update; if your watch asks for a code again, enter it once. Fenix 5, Forerunner 935 and 645, vivoactive 3 and other watches on Connect IQ 3.1: the background refresh, which never worked on these models, is off; open the widget to refresh.
